By downloading, installing, or using the Metrou București app ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

The App is an unofficial, independently developed Android application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Metrorex S.A. or any official Bucharest metro authority.

Metrou București is a free Android application providing:

• Metro route planning across lines M1 to M5 with transfer optimisation
• Timetable information for all active stations
• GPS-based route tracking during your journey
• Station details including entrances, door-opening direction indicators, and transport connections
• Nearby places and points of interest around each station
• Personal station notes and favourite routes stored locally on your device
• An offline metro and city map, bundled in the App
• Surface transport suggestions with live bus and tram arrival times
• Service alerts, news and events for the network
• Crowd-reported station toilet status, which you can read and contribute to
• A metro trivia quiz and a Discover section
• Support for multiple languages

By using the App you agree to:

• Use the App only for lawful, personal purposes
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the App
• Not use the App in any way that could damage or impair its functionality
• Respect the rights of other users and third parties

The App may request access to your device's GPS location to enable route tracking and to find nearby metro stations. Location permissions are optional, and the core route-planning functionality works without them.

Precise GPS location data is processed on your device and is never transmitted to our servers, with one exception: if you use the street-name lookup or address search, the query is sent to an external map service, as described in the Privacy Policy. Google's ad and analytics services may also derive an approximate, IP-based location, but only after you grant consent (see Section 5). You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device's Settings.

The App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob and uses Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous usage statistics that help us improve the App. On first launch, and whenever required by applicable law, the App presents a GDPR consent form powered by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). You may accept or decline at that point, and your choice is respected for all subsequent sessions.

The App is free to download and is supported by advertising. An optional paid upgrade, MetroBUC PRO, removes all advertising from the App. PRO is not required to use any feature: every travel feature is available to all users, whether or not they buy it.

PRO is sold in two forms, both granting exactly the same benefit:

• A monthly subscription, which renews automatically until you cancel it.
• A one-time purchase, which removes advertising permanently for the Google account that bought it, with no recurring charge.

Payment processing

All purchases are processed by Google Play. We never receive, handle, or store your payment details. Your relationship for the payment itself is with Google, and Google Play’s own terms apply to it.

Renewal and cancellation

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through your Google Play account, not from within the App. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the period already paid for, and PRO stays active until the end of that period.

Prices

Prices are set in Google Play and shown to you in your local currency, inclusive of applicable taxes, before you confirm any purchase. Prices may change; any change to a subscription price applies only to future renewals.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy, not by us. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have a statutory right of withdrawal for digital purchases, and that right is unaffected by this section.

Some features let you contribute information that other users see. Reporting the condition of a station toilet is the current example: you choose a condition, and you may optionally add a short note.

• What is published. The station, the condition you selected, the time of the report and any note you wrote are shared with other users of the App. Nothing identifying you is attached: no account, name, email or device identifier.
• Write nothing personal. Because notes are public, do not include personal information about yourself or anyone else. Keep notes factual and about the facility.
• Acceptable use. Do not submit content that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, advertising, or deliberately false. Reports are meant to help other travellers.
• We may remove content. We can remove or refuse any submission at our discretion, in particular if it breaches this section, and may restrict submissions from a device that repeatedly abuses the feature.
• Licence. By submitting a report you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display and distribute it within the App. You keep any rights you hold in what you wrote.
• No guarantee of accuracy. Reports come from other users, not from us or from the metro operator. They may be out of date or wrong. Treat them as informal hints, never as an assurance that a facility is open or usable.
• Submissions are validated. To keep forged reports out of the shared data, submitting a report requires a check confirming it comes from a genuine install of the App. A submission that fails this check is rejected. The check carries no account or personal data.
• Anonymity limits deletion. Because reports carry no identifier, we cannot connect a past report back to you and so cannot delete an individual one on request. Reports age out of relevance over time.

The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of metro schedules, route information, or station details displayed in the App. Specifically, we do not guarantee that:

• The App will operate without interruption or error
• Timetable data reflects current official schedules
• GPS tracking will function correctly in underground sections
• The App will be compatible with all Android devices or OS versions
• Data stored in the App (notes, favourites) will not be lost

You use the App at your own risk. It is your sole responsibility to verify metro schedules through official sources and to have alternative plans in case of App malfunction. The App is intended as a convenience tool and should not be your sole source for transportation decisions.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, including but not limited to missed transportation, loss of data, or personal injury.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App, which is zero.

The App relies on services provided by third parties, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:

• Advertising and analytics: ads, consent management and anonymous usage statistics are provided by Google (AdMob and Firebase). Google's own policies govern them.
• Payments: PRO purchases are processed entirely by Google Play.
• Map and lookup services: address search, street-name lookup and walking routes are obtained from external map data and routing providers. The map data shown in the App comes from open sources.
• Transit data: live arrival times, service alerts, news and events come from external public transport data providers.
• Cloud infrastructure: crowd-reported toilet status, submission validation and notification delivery use cloud services provided by Google.
• External applications: opening a location in a map application happens at your explicit request.

We are not responsible for the content, availability, accuracy or practices of these third-party services, and we may change or replace them at any time.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through in-app notifications or an updated "Last updated" date on this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
